“My feeling to belong to Algeria pushed me to work without waiting for prerogatives,” says Vice-Prime Minister

“My feeling to belong to Algeria pushed me to work without waiting for prerogatives,” says Vice-Prime Minister

Algeria’s Vice-Prime Minister Nourredine Yazid Zerhouni said there is no need to an executive decree to make him exercise his missions. “I have been devoted to serve the country since a long time. All the departments in the Prime Minister are under my disposal.”

  •  Zerhouni told Echorouk the feeling to belong to this country made him working in the field without determining his prerogatives. “The man who chose to devote himself to serve the country does not care about some secondary details.”

“I a man of State and I always prefer to deal with this logic,” he added.

“Media talked a lot about my prerogatives. Yet, I believe that my missions are clear at least to me.”

Zerhouni’s remarks come to put an end to a controversy raised by the position of Vice-Prime Minister. He is the first person to hold it following a governmental reshuffle held in May.

The position of Vice-Prime Minister was created following the constitutional amendment 1996. It replaced the position of the Head of Government with the possibility of appointing more than one Vice-Prime Minister.
